To the devil the queues in the rain: it is not (nice) civic to insist, when attendance at the rooms down, but how to resist the temptation to simply lover on his couch to admire the glamour of Marilyn, or the exploits of 007 Among other things, this is what you propose, for the holiday season, the last DVD. This breadcrumb mini will allow you to not lost (too) you in the labyrinths of stores...
Let us be parochial, to begin with. Three boxes celebrate three stars who have, in their time, embodied the French cinema: Gabin, disappeared 30 years ago, through a set of five films, not necessarily its mythical, but it is precisely the interest: it so redécouvrira "The Port of desire", Gréville, and two films by Duvivier, "La Bandera" and "Maria Chapdelaine" M6 (6 DVD). Montand, who left us fifteen years ago, with a masterful set of ten films, signed Sautet, Rappeneau, Corneau, Melville, Broca and Costa Gavras, with "Z", until then unpublished on DVD (Studio Canal, 10 DVD). BB, still alive, which reappears... in minor, on the side of love, but in major side charm, with a handful of mutilates nicely désarmants, turned from 1952 ("Manina, the girl without sailing") in 1968 ("Shalako") (6 DVD, Studio Canal).

More seriously, moviegoers, precisely, will be at the party with a few ensembles devoted to major filmmakers. First the big elders of silent, Griffith, with "Intolerance" and "Birth of a nation", two films founding, completed a set of short films (3 DVD, MK2) and Eric von Stroheim, flamboyant filmmaker and cursed before becoming actor, with three sulphur films: "Blind husbands", "Follies of women", "Queen Kelly" with Gloria Swanson (3 DVD, also MK2). Then too long overlooked, British Director Michael Powell, who, with his partner Emeric Pressburger, turned in the 1940s and 1950s a few treasures, here together, "I know where I am going", "A Canterbury Tale", and a classic of the film of horror, "Voyeur" (3 DVD, Institute light). And Norman McLaren, animator great, creator of a drolatique world in more than 60 short films, all combined with amazing bonuses (7 DVD, the film's paradox/NFB).
Among the latest great tenors on hesitate between Rainer Werner Fassbinder with two somewhat forgotten works, "Whity", a western, "Pioneers in Ingolstadt", and the magnificent "Lili Marleen" (3 DVD, Opening), Federico Fellini, entered in the interesting (and economic) collection "Films in my life" with a box with "Fires of the Music Hall" (his first film), "La Dolce vita", "Prova of orchestra"., "The Vitelloni" and "Juliet of the spirits" (5 DVD, Opening) or Pedro Almodovar, including four last (and beautiful) films, "all about my mother", "Talk to her", "The bad Education", and "Volver", are for the first time in gift box (MER). Or even Jean-Jacques Annaud, lavishly honored with a Cabinet of nine "masterpieces" for all ages (8 DVD, Pathé).
Remember, of course, the integral of the James Bond collection: twenty films remasterisés, "James Bond against Dr. No." (1962) in "Die another day" (2002), with bonus. The Rolls of the cabinets of this Christmas... A hook at the top of the tree with the most beautiful of the stars, "Marilyn for ever": a black box of fifteen films, including "Seven year itch", "The river without return", "how to marry a millionaire" (MER).
More modestly, some reprints should not be missed include: "The thing from another world", a classic of science fiction Hollywood (1950) largely supervised by Howard Hawks (1 DVD, Editions Montparnasse); "Theorem" of Pasolini, accompanied by a commentary of Henry Chapier and a documentary of Laura Betti (1 DVD, GCTHV), or "Hana-Bi", lion d'Or in Venice, where Takeshi Kitano forget violence in favor of a pure emotion (2 DVD, Arte Video). Also, any other registry, "Verdun", great film forgotten Léon Poirier who, in 1928, went reconstitute the same scene fighting the tragic battle of the first war world (1 DVD, Carlotta).
