The arduous nature but it is another shipyard

In the theatre of Verneuil-sur-Seine (78), an atypical public press in the rows of chairs. Site leaders, drivers work and companions make up assistance. History is in few words: it is the baptism of fire of a young Chief of construction. First day on the ground, without its driver to work, it will have to organize the site (the laying of sidewalks), enforce safety rules and deal with all suppliers. Soon, problems began. Between the driver of one of the subcontractors which is not the site to deliver the equipment, the Albanian acting which includes step instructions because he does not speak French, and the worker who refuses to wear helmets and gloves by (bad) habit, the magnitude of the task is consistent. Over the exhibit, the gags are cycled through, to the delight of the public who often laughs at the chips. A success being explained by the quality of the actors, but also by the realism of the situations. And, for cause, the Director and author of the piece, Cédrick Spinassou, is a former site of Eurovia. His play, it is the experience, and the companions feel.

"Some come to us at the end of the show in being convinced that we are really public works workers", is one of the actors of the troupe. More real than in sum. It is that all the companions have been confronted with the realities described in the piece: the site manager who spends his time on the phone to all subcontractors without take care of workers on-site, the signs of the shipyard lost, the package is empty pharmacy to the point where one must treat a wounded. The line is of course forced it's a comedy but a comedy that ends badly. Accident (a hand crushed) was not slow to arrive, by simple negligence.

Debate room

Once the room is completed, place in the debate with the room and heads of agencies. The workers, first intimidated, have difficulty to take the floor. But progressively, languages start, questions begin to crab-wise: what to do when safety rules are not complied with time Should we sacrifice the productivity of the site to the safety of workers How to react to the subcontractors who do not want to follow the instructions for prevention Officials, too, are sometimes embarrassed to answer, because they know that these dilemmas exist indeed, and the additional time to complete a site are rarely granted.

Unsafe acts

To measure the educational virtues of such a transaction, it is still too early because the tour is not complete. Seventy performances are scheduled on all the France, which will assist the 20,000 employees of Eurovia (roughly 38,000 employees in the world). The figures are already encouraging, because concern for prevention is not new: in four years, the frequency rate of accidents () declined by 45 at Eurovia, from 21.9 to 12.1.

In addition to the success, the originality of the approach is undeniable. The objective is clear: it is better to work on the behaviours that follow security rules not always well understood, and therefore few followed. "Thanks to these films and their associated training, we try to revisit ideas all: If a construction delays, it is not common across and in every sense that things are going to go faster." On the contrary. "The effectiveness of the action is not always related to the timeliness", continues Yvon Tumson.

Pedagogy seems to pay since the accident frequency rate fell to 8 in Spie Batignolles, then that the average national building is 58, and the average overall, all sectors, to 25. "Today, it is even less risky to work in a department store in Spie Batignolles", fun to stress Yvon Tumson. The arduous nature, but it is another shipyard.
